Job Description

About the Role

We are looking for a qualified Electrical Building Services Engineer to join our facilities management team, delivering high-quality, responsive electrical and general maintenance services across our site(s). You will work closely with internal teams, external contractors, and site users to maintain operational efficiency and electrical safety.

Your core responsibilities will include the delivery of planned and reactive electrical maintenance, fault diagnosis, and small installation works, while supporting other building services as required. All tasks must be accurately logged and tracked via the CAFM system to ensure compliance with statutory and contractual obligations.

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week (Monday – Friday, with a 30-minute lunch break, working between 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM). Participation in an on-call rota and occasional overtime will be required. A validated DBS check is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Carry out electrical fault finding, repairs, and small works installations in accordance with current regulations.
  2. Conduct electrical testing and inspections, including EICRs, emergency lighting checks, and PAT testing (where qualified).
  3. Maintain and replace electrical components such as light fittings, sockets, control panels, motors, and circuit breakers.
  4. Ensure compliance with the 18th Edition wiring regulations and maintain electrical safety across the site.
  5. Perform other minor building maintenance duties (plumbing, carpentry, decorating) as required.
  6. Manage PPM schedules using a handheld PDA and CAFM system, focusing on electrical assets and systems.
  7. Supervise and coordinate specialist contractors for electrical installations or high-voltage work.
  8. Participate in the management of Permits to Work, particularly for electrical isolation procedures.
  9. Maintain compliance with health and safety legislation, including Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and safe systems of work.
  10. Complete timesheets, service records, and asset logs accurately and on time.
  11. Support the delivery of FM services, ensuring high standards and quick response to electrical issues.
  12. Contribute to site safety through active risk identification, reporting, and participation in toolbox talks.
  13. Participate in the on-call rota, responding to electrical or other urgent issues outside normal working hours.

About You

  • City & Guilds 2365 / 2357 Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671) essential.
  • 2391 or 2394/2395 Inspection & Testing (desirable but not essential).
  • Experience working with CAFM systems and managing PPM schedules.
  • Strong understanding of building services systems, especially electrical infrastructure.
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
  • Excellent fault-finding, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communicator with good interpersonal and teamworking skills.
  • Adaptable, resilient, and capable of managing priorities under pressure.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence.
