Job summary

Robertson Group in North West England seeks a Building Services Engineer to join a team delivering high-quality installations. You will oversee QA, coordinate with design teams and subcontractors, and drive commissioning to ensure project handover to design intent.

The role emphasizes collaboration, safety, and rigorous quality controls across Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and related services, with emphasis on proactive problem solving.

Qualifications

• Previous similar experience in Building Services in the construction industry either from a trade or consultancy background.
• Experience in dealing with Building Services Consultants, Architects, Engineers, Clients, Sub-contractors, and Specialist support providers
• Ability to communicate with staff at all levels
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Ability to build strong relationships at all levels
• Proactive, flexible, motivated approach to work

Responsibilities

• Liaise with design teams and sub-contractors to ensure tender and construction information is issued timetiously.
• Assist the tendering process for building services to ensure cost plan is achieved.
• Provide value engineering input into the Building Services package.
• Quality control of installation.
• Chair and minute meetings with services subcontractors.
• Attend technical meetings with design team, site staff, subcontractors, and utilities providers.
• Produce monthly progress and information reports in line with the Building Services manager.
• Lead the commissioning process to ensure successful handover.

Main Purpose of the Job:

• Ensure that the quality of the Building Services installations is in line with the requirements of the specifications and project requirements by carrying out
• Inspections and vetting of Sub-Contractors QA procedures
• Quality auditing
• Training of RCT site personnel in what to look out for in snagging and defects monitoring
• Ensure that RCT hand over a fully working and functioning building and fully controlling to the set parameters of the design intent
• Assist in the sub-contractor selection and tender process for the Building Services elements of our works
• Ensure all health, safety and quality procedures are followed in conjunction with the Group Quality Assurance Plan.
• Provide site assistance and advice to our site staff through the duration of our contract works and in support the progress and technical meetings involving Building Services
• Coordinate the procurement and progress of site Utilities from the nominated Service Providers
• To co-ordinate the production and receipt of Design information and the subsequent installation and commissioning of the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and other associated special Services, to ensure that the overall phasing and completion of the works are achieved as required by the Contract Programme and within budget
• Provide building services ‘troubleshooting’ service on previously completed projects as required
• DUTIES:

The fundamental tasks of the job are:

• Liaise with the Design Teams / Sub-contractors to ensure tender and construction information issued timeously
• Assist the tendering process for building services to ensure cost plan is achieved
• Provide value engineering input into the Building Services package
• Quality Control of installation
• Chair and minute meetings with Services sub-contractors
• Attend Technical meetings with Design Team, Site Staff, Sub-contractors, and Utilities Providers
• Produce monthly progress and Information Reports in line with the Building Services manager
• Keeping site records up to date and deal with correspondence as necessary
• Lead the commissioning process to ensure successful handover
• Monitor and administer a ‘zero snagging’ policy for all Building Services works
• Ensure full O&M documentation is provided for handover
• Resolve any Building Services issues on previous contracts and assist our Maintenance Dept
• Carry out Commission support activities as directed by the Building Services Manager and Cx Manager

Qualifications / Relevant Industrial Experience:

• Previous similar experience in Building Services in the construction industry either from a trade or consultancy background.
