Job summary

Aspire Defence Services Limited (ADSL) is seeking a Building Services Engineer to develop detailed scopes of work from surveys and site visits. You will support change projects, lifecycle works, and asset management planning within a defence environment.

You will conduct feasibility studies on building services, advise on energy efficiency and carbon reduction, and ensure designs comply with standards while delivering value for money. Security clearance is a requirement.

Qualifications

• Minimum City & Guilds or ONC in a relevant discipline.
• Professional membership such as CIBSE is preferred.
• MoD security clearance is required or eligible to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and compliant scopes of work from surveys, site visits and technical information.
• Carry out feasibility studies and advise on building services, energy efficiency and carbon reduction.
• Work with stakeholders to ensure designs meet standards and deliver value for money.
• Support estimating activities, review technical docs and contractor submissions; assess completed works.
• Witness and report testing and commissioning across mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems; identify deficiencies.
• Prepare assets and handover documentation; attend technical meetings for project delivery.

Salary: Up to TBC per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, no weekends

Your Role:

• You will prepare detailed and compliant scopes of work from surveys, site visits and technical information to support change projects, lifecycle works and the Asset Management Plan.

• You will carry out feasibility studies and provide advice on building services, health and safety requirements, energy efficiency and carbon reduction initiatives.

• You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure designs comply with relevant standards and deliver value for money solutions.

• You will support estimating activities, review technical documentation, completion certificates and contractor submissions, and assess the quality of completed works.

• You will witness and report on testing and commissioning activities across mechanical, electrical, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, identifying any deficiencies.

• You will prepare assets and documentation for handover and attend technical meetings to support successful project delivery.

What We’re Looking For:

• Qualifications: You will be educated to a minimum City and Guilds or Ordinary National Certificate level, or equivalent, in a relevant discipline, preferably supported by professional membership such as the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers. You must have, or be eligible to obtain, Ministry of Defence security clearance.

• Experience: You will have experience of mechanical and electrical systems, building regulations, construction design and management requirements, surveying activities, scope development, pricing works and reviewing contractor quotations to ensure value for money.

• Skills: You will be able to analyse technical survey data, communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders, produce clear written scopes of work, support commissioning activities and deliver high quality customer focused outcomes.
