Job summary

Wokingham Borough Council seeks a Building Safety Levy Lead for a part-time, 24-month fixed-term contract. You will manage levy collection, governance, and compliance, collaborating with developers and internal teams to translate legislation into local practice.

The role emphasizes delivering complex regulatory/financial processes, with a strong focus on records, risk management, and performance monitoring.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Building Control or regulatory field.
• Minimum L3 LABC Technical Building Control Certificate or commitment to complete within 12 months.
• Strong knowledge of local authority finance and levy mechanisms.
• Experience working with developers and external stakeholders on levy or financial compliance.

Responsibilities

• Administer end-to-end levy process, notices and payments.
• Maintain accurate records and secure data handling within IT/financial systems.
• Issue levy determination notices and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Conduct spot checks of levy information per regulatory requirements.
• Measure plans, check exemptions and previous land rate applications.
• Prepare quarterly transfer of MI & revenue to MHCLG.
• Act as a point of contact for levy-related queries.
