Job summary

Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council is seeking an experienced Compliance and Assurance Team Leader to oversee housing and corporate property compliance, driving improvements in building safety and regulatory assurance.

You will line manage a team of Compliance and Assurance Co-ordinators and Tenant Liaison Officers, ensuring audits, inspections and KPI reporting meet statutory requirements while promoting a culture of safety and service excellence.

Qualifications

• Experience working within a safety, compliance, or building safety environment.
• Experience managing and developing staff.
• NVQ Level 5 qualification in a relevant discipline (or equivalent).
• Level 4 Housing qualification or willingness to work towards achieving it.
• Strong knowledge of housing consumer standards, health and safety legislation, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to analyse complex information and present recommendations to a range of audiences.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle challenging situations.
• Commitment to excellent customer service and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee compliance activities across the Council's housing portfolio.
• Ensure compliance with the Regulator of Social Housing's Consumer Standards and other relevant legislation.
• Manage audits, quality assurance reviews, and performance reporting.
• Oversee statutory inspection programmes including fire, gas, electrical, asbestos, legionella, and lift safety.
• Support the production of regulatory returns, KPI reporting, and assurance reporting.
• Champion a strong culture of health, safety, and compliance throughout the organisation.
• Lead tenant engagement initiatives relating to building safety and compliance.
• Manage difficult access cases and ensure statutory inspections are completed using robust and proactive approaches.
• Line manage and develop a team of compliance professionals.
• Deputise for the Service Manager when required.
