Job description

Salary: £40,600 – £43,700 (depending on experience) + 6% performance bonus

Working location: Maidstone area / Field Based

Employment Type: Full Time, Permanent

Job summary:

As a Building Inspector, you will be a key member of our inspection service team, collaborating with registered builders to ensure homes meet NHBC Standards and Building Regulations, while providing expert guidance.

What you’ll be doing

Based from home and visiting sites daily, you'll work with registered builders to ensure compliance with NHBC Standards, Building Regulations, and legislation. You'll build relationships with site managers, helping to identify and prevent construction defects, thus managing insurance risk and ensuring quality homes for buyers.

Full training and ongoing support will be provided. You’ll manage your own schedule, starting your day from home, with no weekend work to maintain work/life balance.

  • Relevant house-building or construction experience
  • Strong communication skills to build rapport and credibility
  • Ability to influence and handle disagreements assertively
  • Analytical skills to support decision making
  • Knowledge of house building processes and trade interactions
  • Physical fitness for site visits, including working at heights
  • Interest in industry standards and developments
  • Customer focus and commitment to quality service
Education and Qualifications
  • Construction-related qualification (e.g., City and Guilds, HNC, HND, NVQ) or working towards one
  • Full Driving Licence
