Qualifications

• Strong Building Control expertise and knowledge of Building Regulations and the Building Safety Act.
• Experience in leading, motivating and developing people.
• Experience delivering a high-quality customer-focused service including dangerous structures and demolition control.
• Quality assurance, audit requirements and performance management experience.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day delivery of one area of the Building Control team, including plan checking and inspections.
• Coach, mentor and develop colleagues with CPD and clear objectives.
• Oversee dangerous structures and demolition work; participate in out-of-hours rota.
• Build relationships with applicants, developers and partners; provide professional advice.
• Maintain robust records and support audit and reporting requirements.
• Support and deputise for the Building Control Manager and contribute to service improvements.
