Job summary

Stratford-on-Avon District Council is seeking a Building Control Team Leader to guide one area of the Building Control team, ensuring safe and high-quality development across the district.

You will coach inspectors, oversee plan checking, site inspections and dangerous structures work, and contribute to service improvements alongside the Building Control Manager. This role offers hybrid working within Warwickshire.

Qualifications

• Strong Building Control expertise and knowledge of Building Regulations and Building Safety Act.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop people.
• Delivering a high-quality, customer-focused service with robust records and performance information.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to explain complex issues clearly.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day delivery of one area of the Building Control team, overseeing plan checking and inspections.
• Coach, mentor and develop colleagues and support CPD with clear objectives.
• Oversee dangerous structures and demolition work while protecting public safety.
• Build effective relationships with applicants, developers and partners to provide professional advice.
• Support and deputise for the Building Control Manager and contribute to service improvements.
