Job summary

Instagram is seeking a Building Control professional to join our team and support the delivery of a high-quality Building Regulation service within a locality area. You will work with the Principal Building Control Officer to manage a varied caseload and ensure compliance with statutory functions.

You will provide expert Building Control advice, support pre-application work, validate applications, examine plans and conduct inspections, while liaising with stakeholders and maintaining robust

Qualifications

• Hold an HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in a building-related subject.
• Be BSR registered at the required level, or working towards registration.
• Demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of Building Regulations and related legislation.
• Have knowledge/experience in surveying and construction-related employment.
• Demonstrate knowledge of dangerous structures and demolition.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional Building Control advice and guidance to customers, applicants, stakeholders and the development industry.
• Support delivery of Building Regulation functions including pre-application advice, validation, plan examination and consultations.
• Undertake site inspections to ensure compliance with Building Regulations and other legislation.
• Assist with responsibilities for dangerous structures, demolitions and Building Regulation enforcement.
• Provide advice relating to accessibility requirements and the Equality Act.
• Liaise with internal services, external organisations, community groups and elected members as required.
• Contribute to service improvement initiatives and effective delivery of the Building Control service.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with statutory requirements.
