Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated BSL Teaching Assistant to support pupils with hearing impairments in Leeds. You will work closely with teachers to foster inclusive learning environments and help students access curriculum and participate actively.

What you'll be doing

No two days are ever quite the same, but you'll spend your time:

  • Supporting pupils with hearing impairments on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
  • Using British Sign Language (BSL) to support communication throughout the school day
  • Helping pupils take part in lessons and classroom activities with confidence
  • Encouraging independence, social development and positive relationships
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, parents and external professionals
  • Creating a calm, inclusive and supportive learning environment where every child can flourish
What we're looking for

You'll be a great fit if you have:

  • BSL Level 3 qualification or above (preferred)
  • Experience working with children or young people in education or care settings
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, hearing impairments or additional needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, calm and nurturing approach
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
