Job summary

Connex Education Partnership is seeking a dedicated BSL SEN Teaching Assistant to join a Birmingham school, providing 1:1 support to a deaf pupil in the 6th form and assisting teachers with accessible activities.

The role requires a BSL qualification, experience with hearing impairments, and a proactive approach to adapting learning for individual needs while promoting social interaction and emotional well-being throughout the day.

Qualifications

• BSL qualification or recognised British Sign Language qualification.
• Experience supporting pupils with hearing impairments or communication difficulties is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to pupils with SEND.
• Support pupils with hearing impairments and additional communication needs.
• Assist teachers with delivering engaging and accessible learning activities.
• Adapt communication and learning approaches to meet individual pupil needs.
• Encourage independence, confidence and social interaction.
• Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour throughout the school day.
