Job summary

Pertemps Education is seeking a skilled BSL Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Lambeth. Start ASAP. This role supports deaf or hearing-impaired pupils to access learning and communication across the curriculum.

You will provide 1:1 or small group support, adapt lessons, and use sign language and visual aids to engage pupils while collaborating with teachers and specialists to promote inclusion and progress.

Qualifications

• BSL Level 1 qualification required.
• Experience with deaf or hearing-impaired children in education is desirable.
• Patient and empathetic with strong communication skills.
• Team player with a passion for inclusive education.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils who use BSL as their primary means of communication.
• Assist teachers in adapting lessons and learning materials to meet individual needs.
• Use sign language and visual aids to help pupils engage with classroom activities.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and staff to promote inclusion and progress.
• Support pupils' emotional well-being and independence in a nurturing learning environment.
