Job summary

Dovetail & Slate Ltd is recruiting a British Sign Language Interpreter/Communication Worker to support deaf and hearing-impaired learners in our partner education provider in Yorkshire and the Humber. You will deliver BSL and communication support in classrooms, adapt materials, and help learners access lessons and course content.

The role is temporary/contract and requires BSL Level 3 minimum, with experience in education or SEND desirable.

Qualifications

• BSL Level 3 or higher as a minimum with strong signing skills.
• Experience supporting deaf or hearing-impaired people.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexible, learner-focused approach and ability to work well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Providing BSL and communication support to learners in classroom and practical sessions.
• Adapting learning materials and curriculum content so they are accessible.
• Working closely with teaching and support staff to monitor learner progress.
• Supporting learners during trips, visits and wider activities.
• Promoting deaf awareness across the learning environment.
