Job summary

Blanche Nevile School in London is seeking an experienced BSL and Deaf Studies Tutor to plan, deliver and assess a high-quality British Sign Language curriculum up to Level 4 or higher for deaf and hearing pupils, parents and staff.

The successful candidate will collaborate with a supportive team, demonstrate excellent planning and communication, and be available to work some evenings until 6.00pm. DCAL assessment familiarity preferred.

Qualifications

• Must hold a qualification to teach BSL Level 1–4 or higher.
• Strong planning, organisational and adaptive teaching skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities with deaf and hearing learners and families.
• Experience teaching and assessing BSL across levels and age groups.
• Ability to work as part of a supportive team and use formal assessments.
• Understanding of language needs of deaf children and DCAL assessment familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess a high-quality BSL curriculum up to Level 4 or higher.
• Deliver Deaf Studies lessons for learners in line with the Deaf Studies Curriculum.
• Work with deaf and hearing pupils, parents and staff; collaborate with colleagues.
