Job summary

COWI is seeking an Engineering Summer Internship 2027 in York for the Bridge & Structures team. This temporary placement offers hands-on exposure to live projects, with engineers guiding you through day-to-day operations in a global consultancy.

You will assist with calculations, drawings, and documentation, while developing problem-solving and collaboration skills in a real-world setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years in a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Geotechnical, Civil Engineering or similar.
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Creative and technical thinker with a can-do attitude.
• Evidence of research and information gathering abilities.
• Interest in infrastructure or energy markets; some design coursework if requested.

Responsibilities

• Assist with structural calculations and design checks under supervision of senior engineers.
• Support preparation of technical drawings, reports and design documentation.
• Shadow engineers during coordination calls with clients, contractors or other disciplines (e.g. geotechnical, architecture).
• Use your academic knowledge of engineering fundamentals to contribute to projects.
• Gain valuable experience in a global consultancy.
