Job summary

Hampshire County Council in Winchester is seeking a Structural/Bridge Engineer to lead the design and management of bridge replacement, strengthening and maintenance schemes. The role involves feasibility studies, detailed design, and preparing contract documents to ensure safe highway structures.

You will inspect structures, identify maintenance needs, and work with senior engineers to develop sustainable, compliant solutions while managing budgets and stakeholder relationships.

Qualifications

• Experience in design and maintenance of bridges and highway structures.
• Ability to prepare feasibility studies and contract documents.
• Ability to plan and deliver projects with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Produce feasibility studies and final designs for bridge schemes.
• Carry out inspections of highway structures and assess maintenance needs.
• Plan, program and deliver projects within budgets and regulations.
• Mentor technicians and promote quality and the image of the County Council.
