Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Highway Structures Engineer to join our highways and infrastructure team in Manchester. You will lead the delivery of highway structures maintenance programmes, oversee bridge inspections and manage minor structures schemes, ensuring safe, compliant and cost-effective solutions across a major urban network.

Qualifications

• Experience in highway structures engineering and bridge maintenance.
• Knowledge of DMRB, CDM Regulations and contract procedures.
• Experience delivering maintenance programmes and minor works.
• Full UK driving licence required.
• Strong communication and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead highway structures maintenance programme delivery.
• Oversee bridge inspections per standards.
• Manage minor structures design schemes from feasibility to delivery.
• Provide technical advice on highway structures and asset management.
• Review designs and technical submissions for highways.
• Manage external contractors and stakeholders.
• Support NEC-based contract delivery.
• Prepare technical reports, risk assessments and cost estimates.
• Conduct QA checks and site audits.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve complex issues.
