Job description

New Vision Bradford is a partnership between the Bridge Project, Create Strength Group, Project 6 and Waythrough. Under this umbrella, the partnership delivers an adult drug and alcohol service for the Bradford and Craven District, aiming to help people tackle alcohol, drug use, and reduce risk taking behaviours through dedicated prevention, intervention, and support.

We’re offering an exciting opportunity to join our Supported Housing team as a permanent Floating Support Worker. In this key role, you’ll support people experiencing drug or alcohol challenges to help them maintain their tenancy and build stability in their lives.

You will work out in the community, visiting individuals in their own homes, so a full driving licence, access to a vehicle, and business insurance are essential.

The people you will support may be facing significant difficulties and could be at risk of homelessness. Because of this, it is important that you have experience of working with individuals who have vulnerabilities and/or display challenging behaviour. There will be times when people present in crisis, so we are looking for someone who can communicate clearly, negotiate effectively, remain calm under pressure, and approach situations with a positive, solution‑focused mindset. Building strong, trusting relationships is key to success in this role.

You will be able to work independently and manage your time effectively but most of all you will be a team player. A good knowledge of housing management issues, safeguarding and welfare benefits and entitlement is essential.

This is a 37.5-hour post, Monday – Friday, 9.00am-5.00pm, however, there is an element of flexibility around working hours required by the postholder. A willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check is also a requirement of the post (the results of which would not necessarily exclude applicants from consideration).
