Job summary

BEAR Scotland is seeking a Bridge Engineer to join our North-West Bridges Team, with hybrid working options in Perth or Inverness. The role involves designing bridge maintenance schemes, preparing cost estimates, and ensuring on-time delivery within budget.

You will update records, coordinate with contractors, and contribute to risk assessments and safety documentation. A Civil/Structural Eng degree and a valid UK driving licence are required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Experience in bridge design or maintenance (early–mid career encouraged).
• Working towards or holding professional membership (IEng/CEng).
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• A proactive, team-focused approach.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the design of bridge maintenance and improvement schemes.
• Prepare cost estimates and maintain accurate design records.
• Support project delivery to ensure work is completed on time and within budget.
• Update structural records using client systems.
• Assist with contractor coordination and site activities.
• Contribute to risk assessments and health & safety documentation.
• Work closely with colleagues across the Bridges Team.
