Job summary

WSP is seeking an Associate/Associate Director to provide technical leadership for bridge and civil engineering design and assessment across the UK and overseas. You will mentor junior staff, lead design teams and ensure high quality work delivered on time and within budget.

The role involves managing resources, coordinating multi-disciplinary inputs and developing client relationships. Opportunities exist across Cardiff, Bristol, Exeter & Truro offices within our South West & Wales Civil &

Qualifications

• Bridge design, maintenance and assessment experience from construction sites and design office.
• Project management experience on bridge projects.
• Knowledge of design, maintenance and supervision of bridges and civil structures including new builds, maintenance, assessment and strengthening.
• Knowledge of DMRB and MCDHW related to structural schemes.
• Understanding of Eurocodes in bridge design.
• Experience with steel, reinforced and prestressed concrete bridge structures.
• Experience with grillage, space frame and finite element analysis software (LUSAS, Superstress, SAM).
• Strong communication and client handling skills; willingness to develop the bridges team.

Responsibilities

• Technical leadership of bridge/civil engineering design and assessment projects in the UK and overseas.
• Project reviews to optimise solutions and coordinate multi-disciplinary inputs.
• Managing resources and developing relationships with other teams.
• Agreeing fees and managing the commercial position on projects.
• Leading a culture of technical review and challenge.
• Developing client relationships and leading tenders/bids.
• Supervision and mentoring of junior team members.
