Job summary

WSP Newcastle Upon Tyne is seeking an Associate / Associate Director to lead bridge and civil engineering design and assessment across UK and overseas projects. You will provide technical leadership to design teams and mentor junior staff to deliver quality on time and within budget.

Based in WSP’s city centre offices with hybrid working, you will manage client relationships, lead tenders, coordinate multi-disciplinary inputs, and promote innovation and technical excellence across the bridges

Qualifications

Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer with UK acceptance.
Experience in bridge design, maintenance and assessment.
Proven project management of bridge projects.
Knowledge of design, maintenance and supervision of structures.
Experience with Eurocodes and related design codes.
Proficient in FE analysis and structural software.
Strong communication and client handling skills.

Responsibilities

Technical leadership of bridge/civil design and assessment projects in the UK and overseas.
Project reviews to optimise solutions and coordinate inputs.
Manage resources and develop cross-team relationships.
Agree fees and manage project commercial position.
Lead technical reviews and drive excellence.
Develop client relationships and lead tenders/bids.
Supervise and mentor junior team members.
