Role Description

The Brickwork Technician will support teaching and learning in brickwork and construction by preparing and maintaining practical workshop areas, tools, and materials. Day-to-day tasks include setting up equipment for classes, demonstrating safe and correct use of bricklaying tools, assisting learners during practical sessions, and maintaining a clean, safe working environment in line with health and safety standards. The role also involves monitoring stock levels, ordering or requesting materials, carrying out minor repairs to equipment, and supporting staff with assessments and project work. This is a full-time, on-site role based in London, working closely with teaching teams and learners to ensure high-quality delivery of brickwork training.
Qualifications

  • Strong practical brickwork skills, including bricklaying, blockwork, and basic masonry techniques, with the ability to demonstrate tasks clearly and safely.
  • Good understanding of construction site practices, health and safety regulations, and safe use, storage, and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Ability to prepare, organise, and maintain workshop spaces, including managing materials, tools, and resources efficiently.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support diverse learners and collaborate with teaching and support staff.
  • Relevant vocational qualification in brickwork or construction (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent) and recent industry experience.
  • Basic IT skills for record-keeping, email, and use of college systems; willingness to follow college procedures and undertake training.
  • Experience in an FE or training environment is an advantage, along with a commitment to inclusive practice and learner success.
