Job summary

Campden BRI is seeking a Laboratory Analyst - Chemistry (Brewing) to support commercial analytical lab chemistry testing for food and drink. You will conduct routine analyses, prepare samples and report results to clients using HPLC and LC/MS/MS, and maintain accurate laboratory records for inclusion in scientific reports.

The role requires a Chemistry degree, laboratory experience, and strong organisational and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemistry and practical lab experience required.
• Experience with chromatography techniques desirable, LC/MS/MS and HPLC preferred.
• Ability to undertake routine analysis with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Booking in of samples, preparation of samples and reporting of results to clients (10%).
• Routine analysis of food stuffs and associated materials using instrumental methods e.g. HPLC and LC/MS/MS (50%).
• Produce accurate laboratory records, calculate results, collate data for inclusion in scientific reports and produce reports for bespoke and routine analysis (30%).
• To ensure all aspects of quality are managed according to the Campden BRI standards, including maintaining QC records for UKAS accredited methods.
• Responding to client enquiries relating to testing within the section.
• Training and supervision of junior staff as required.
• Basic maintenance and calibration of equipment, including GC/MS/MS, LC/MS/MS and HPLC systems.
