Job summary

Campden BRI is seeking a laboratory analyst to support commercial analytical lab chemistry testing for food and drink. You will perform routine analyses using HPLC and LC-MS/MS, prepare samples, and report results to clients.

You will maintain quality records, contribute to scientific reports, assist with training, and perform equipment maintenance on GC/MS/MS, LC/MS/MS and HPLC systems.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a laboratory environment.
• Ability to undertake routine analysis with minimal supervision.
• Good organisational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Booking in samples, preparation of samples and reporting of results to clients.
• Routine analysis of food stuffs and associated materials using instrumental methods (HPLC, LC-MS/MS).
• Produce accurate laboratory records, calculate results, and collate data for reports.
• Ensure quality are managed per Campden BRI standards and maintain QC records for UKAS methods.
• Respond to client enquiries relating to testing within the section.
• Training and supervision of junior staff as required.
• Maintenance and calibration of equipment including GC/MS/MS, LC/MS/MS and HPLC systems.

We offercommercial analytical lab chemistry testing for food and drink, including: nutritionaland health, microscopy, biochemistry, allergens, chromatography, packaging, cereals and ingredients, andwines and spirits

What you'll be doing

• Booking in of samples, preparation ofsamples and reporting of results to clients (10%)
• Routine analysis of food stuffs andassociated materials using instrumental methods e.g. HPLC and LC/MS/MS(50%)
• Produce accurate laboratory record,calculate results, collate data for inclusion in scientific reports andproduce reports for bespoke and routine analysis (30%)
• To ensure all aspects of quality aremanaged according to the Campden BRI standards, including maintaining QCrecords for UKAS accredited methods
• Responding to client enquires relatingto testing within the section
• Training and supervision of juniorstaff as require
• Basic maintenance and calibration ofequipment, including GC/MS/MS, LC/MS/MS and HPLC systems

What we're looking for

• Minimum A Level(s) A or B orequivalent in Chemistry
• Degree in Chemistry
• Experience working in a laboratoryenvironment
• Experience working with chromatographytechniques desirable, particularly LC/MS/MS and HPLC
• Ability to undertake routine analysiswith minimal supervision
• Good organisational skill for managingworkload and complex projects
• Well-developed communication skills -upwards, downwards and outwards

Please note due to our rural location you must be able to drive and have your own transport.

Working hours- Monday-Friday 8.45am-5.15pm (4.30pm finish on Fridays).
