Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting Breakfast Club and After School Club Assistants for a primary school in Carshalton, South London. Roles include morning and/or afternoon shifts, with supervision, activities and safeguarding duties to support pupils in a welcoming setting.

The role offers flexible shifts and opportunities to gain experience in a supportive school environment. Prior childcare experience and a DBS check are preferred, with training and CPD available.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in schools, nurseries, childcare or club settings.
• Good understanding of safeguarding and child safety.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
• Reliability and commitment to agreed shifts.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead fun activities, including arts and crafts, games and outdoor play.
• Create a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all pupils.

• Work alongside other club staff to ensure sessions run smoothly.

The Role

As a Breakfast or After School Club Assistant, you will:

• Supervise and engage primary-aged children during breakfast and/or after school sessions.
• Plan and lead fun activities, including arts and crafts, games and outdoor play.
• Create a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all pupils.
• Encourage positive behaviour, friendships and social development.
• Support children during snack and mealtimes.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience working with children in a school, nursery, childcare or club setting.
• A friendly, energetic and enthusiastic personality.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A good understanding of safeguarding and child safety.
• Reliability and commitment to agreed shifts.
• An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Level 2 or Level 3 childcare qualifications and Paediatric First Aid are desirable.
