Job summary

Randstad Education in Horley, Surrey is seeking a friendly Before and After School Club Assistant to support wraparound care before and after school, helping children start and end their day with a smile. You’ll run engaging activities, manage morning and afternoon transitions, assist with meals, ensure safeguarding, and build positive relationships with children and parents.

The role is split across 07:15‑09:00 and 15:00‑18:00, Monday to Friday, with prompt weekly pay and ongoing consultant

Qualifications

• Hands-on childcare experience in school, nursery or wraparound settings.
• Availability for both 07:15-09:00 and 15:00-18:00 shifts, Monday to Friday.
• Patient, enthusiastic and approachable demeanour.
• Enhanced DBS check on Update Service (or willing to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Run engaging activities: games, crafts, outdoor play and sports.
• Manage morning and afternoon transitions with breakfast and handovers.
• Assist with preparing and serving healthy breakfasts and snacks.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment following safeguarding standards.
• Build positive relationships and liaise with parents at drop-off/collection.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage Morning & Afternoon Transitions: Welcome pupils at breakfast club and ensure smooth handovers to teachers and parents.

• Serve Meals & Snacks: Assist with preparing and serving healthy breakfasts and afternoon snacks.

• Ensure Child Safety: Maintain a secure, clean environment following school safeguarding standards.

• Build Positive Relationships: Support children's social development, teamwork, and confidence in a relaxed setting.

• Liaise with Parents: Provide friendly, helpful updates to parents at drop-off and collection times.

Requirements

Must-Haves (Essential)

• Hands-on childcare experience (school, nursery, or wraparound care setting).

• Availability for both morning (07:15-09:00) and afternoon (15:00-18:00) shifts, Monday to Friday.

• Approachable, patient, and enthusiastic attitude.

• Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to complete one).

Nice-to-Haves (Desirable)

• Level 2 or 3 qualification in Childcare or Early Years.

• Valid Paediatric First Aid or Food Hygiene certification.
