Job summary

Bannatyne in Hastings seeks a Breakfast Chef to support the hotel kitchen with morning service. You will prepare and present traditional breakfasts, maintain standards and assist with food preparation, under guidance from the Senior Chef.

Ideal candidates have kitchen/hospitality experience, can work early shifts, and demonstrate reliability, teamwork and professionalism in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a kitchen or hospitality role.
• Reliable and able to work morning shifts.
• Strong personal and professional presentation and communication.
• Willing to follow hygiene, safety and food handling guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve traditional English and continental breakfasts.
• Maintain breakfast service organisation, hygiene and cleanliness standards.
• Assist with basic food preparation and reducing food waste.
• Work four 5-hour shifts per week across Mon–Sun (6:00–11:30).

About the Role

Applications are invited for a Breakfast Chef to assist in the kitchen at one of our prestigious hotels. The successful candidate will follow the requirements of kitchen hygiene, food monitoring, stock rotation and reduction of food waste ensuring a smooth and professional food service at all times. The successful candidate may be required to run an area of the kitchen and will work within all legislative constraints including Health and safety regulations, reporting any known breaches to management immediately. The following of instruction and recipes provided whilst maintaining food quality and presentation standards is required alongside ensuring the Senior Chef is fully aware of any issues at each service.

We are looking for someone with a professional approach, the ability to work under pressure, excellent personal and professional presentation, a strong team player, good interpersonal and communication skills and who is also hard-working with a flexible attitude.

We require a reliable Breakfast Chef with previous experience in a kitchen or hospitality role, seeking morning shifts that offer a good work-life balance. You will work four five-hour shifts per week, with availability required across Monday to Sunday: Monday–Friday: 6:00am–11:00am Saturday–Sunday: 6:30am–11:30am

Working within our professional kitchen team, you will prepare & serve traditional English & continental breakfasts, alongside freshly cooked breakfast dishes. Service includes a buffet for up to 85 guests on busier mornings & plated breakfasts during quieter periods. Responsibilities include keeping breakfast service organised, maintaining food safety & cleanliness standards, & assisting with basic food preparation as business allows. Full guidance on our menu, recipes & service procedures will be provided. You should be organised, able to work independently & committed to delivering consistent quality & friendly teamwork.
