The role of Branch Manager is one of the most challenging yet rewarding positions in our business. This Cambridge branch, located on Coldhams Lane, is one of our flagship branches in the Midlands region. It has a well-established team of over 30 colleagues, including operations like 8 vehicles, a full tool hire team, and a Benchmarx kitchen team. Customer footfall is strong, making it a busy workplace!
Monday to Friday, 7:00 am - 4:30 pm, and Saturdays, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm, working only 2 in 4 Saturdays.

No two days are the same in branch life, but here are some key responsibilities:
Building strong relationships with customers to support sales strategies and ensure the team remains professional, friendly, and enthusiastic.
Understanding local competition to develop sales propositions that meet customer needs and keep us competitive.
Maintaining effective relationships with customers to ensure profitability.
Liaising with suppliers to create local commercial plans for profitable sales.
Ensuring safety policies are followed to keep colleagues and customers safe.
Being a key-holder, responsible for opening and closing the branch.
Previous experience in a builders’ merchant is advantageous but not essential. The role is customer-facing, requiring excellent customer service, relationship-building, and teamwork skills. Sector experience is not mandatory; transferable skills like sales, customer service, and leadership are key.
