Job summary

LKQ in Bedford is seeking an experienced Duty Manager to join the branch leadership team. You will oversee retail, warehouse and fleet operations, drive customer service excellence and coach a multi-skilled team to deliver strong branch performance.

Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will lead day-to-day activities, monitor KPIs, manage stock and ensure safety and compliance while delivering an outstanding customer experience across the branch workforce.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence.
• Experience leading, coaching and developing teams.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Experience managing KPIs and operational performance.
• Customer-focused mindset with a drive to deliver outstanding service.
• Good knowledge of stock control and operational processes.
• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to influence business performance.
• Confidence working with operational systems and reporting tools.
• A flexible approach and the ability to perform under pressure.
• Experience with fleet operations, inventory management or P&L responsibility would be advantageous but isn't essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operation of the branch across retail, warehouse and fleet.
• Coordinate resources for smooth operations and customer service.
• Drive operational excellence by upholding standards, policies and procedures.
• Manage stock accuracy and stock take activities.
• Ensure pick-to-manifest targets and customer service SLAs.
• Oversee returns, warranties and reverse logistics processes.
• Support Click & Collect and delivery operations.
• Ensure fleet compliance and vehicle readiness.
• Coach, motivate and develop colleagues across all operational areas.
• Conduct performance conversations and development plans.
• Assist with recruitment, onboarding and succession planning.
• Create an inclusive, customer-focused culture.
• Build a flexible, multi-skilled team delivering exceptional results.
• Deliver an exceptional customer experience and resolve queries professionally.
• Monitor branch sales, profit and margins; control costs.
• Maintain cash handling and stock controls.
• Use KPI and data for continuous improvement.
• Support branch growth through operational excellence and commercial awareness.
• Promote safety culture and ensure health & safety compliance.
• Maintain compliance records and audits.
