About the role

As a Supermarket Assistant Branch Cook, you'll work in the back-of-house of one of our shops in the Partner Dining Room, providing hot and cold food for Partners during their break times. When not in the kitchen, you'll support the wider shop floor team as a Supermarket Assistant, delivering the distinct service and passion for food that sets us apart.

Key Responsibilities

As a Branch Cook, your responsibilities include:

1. Ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen with support from the management team.
2. Maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe kitchen environment.
3. Managing portion control, preparation, storage, and wastage to protect profits.
4. Adhering to high food hygiene standards.

When assisting on the shop floor, your tasks involve:

1. Stock replenishment to keep shelves full and products correctly placed.
2. Fulfilling online customer orders for delivery.
3. Reducing wastage through product due diligence and markdowns.
4. Supporting the wider shop team with checkout, Click & Collect, and customer orders.
5. Maintaining a safe and tidy working environment.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Experience as a cook in catering or hospitality.
• Passion for food and serving a varied, nutritious menu.
• Customer-focused with the ability to engage partners with food.
• Commercial awareness to drive sales and control costs and wastage.
• Flexibility to work between kitchen and shop floor as needed.

Desirable Skills and Certifications

• City & Guilds 706 1 and 2 or NVQ equivalent.
• Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2.
