Lepe Country Park is a 50-hectare coastal site located in the New Forest National Park, featuring a shingle beach, conservation area, and clifftop meadows. The site includes multiple conservation designations such as Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), Sites of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC), and RAMSAR sites. Approximately 400,000 visitors come to the park each year.
Nestled on the stunning Solent coastline, Lepe Country Park offers a blend of natural beauty and history. The park features wildflower meadows, scenic picnic spots, walking trails, historic sites, an award-winning café, The Lookout, and opportunities to enjoy the coastal environment.
We are recruiting for a maternity cover Assistant Ranger role on a 12-month temporary contract. The Assistant Ranger will work with the Senior Ranger and team to perform conservation and land management tasks, lead school visits, volunteer groups, and engage with visitors. The role also involves conducting ecological wildlife surveys and research.
The successful candidate will be flexible, willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team. The role requires physical activity, environmental education, public engagement, knowledge of ecological principles, and relevant protected species. Working alternate weekends and bank holidays is required, along with a full UK driver’s license.
