Job summary

Racecar Engineering & Build is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to design and develop a new line of high-performance brake calipers and discs for aftermarket and motorsport applications. You will work with the engineering team to create bespoke calipers and engage with suppliers to optimise manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND in mechanical or automotive engineering required.
• Minimum of 5 years design experience of vehicle brake calipers.
• Strong knowledge of brake system components and QA methods.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with suppliers and customers.

Job description

Role description:

• To engineer a new line of high performance brake calipers & discs for aftermarket & motorsport applications
• To work with the engineering team to develop bespoke brake calipers
• To work with the supplier for manufacturing process
• Develop component targets based on customer requirements and track data
• Create product costings at concept phase and monitor/manage product costings through the entire project
• Create and manage test plans

Experience & qualifications:

• Minimum of an HNC/HND in mechanical or automotive engineering
• Minimum of 5 years design experience of vehicle brake calipers
• Good knowledge of complete brake system including disc, friction material and master cylinder combinations
• Eloquent and outgoing, able to build strong relationships with suppliers and customers and liaise on technical matters with other departments and customers
• CAD experience using Catia, NX, Creo, Solidworks or similar
• Experience of DFM, DFA, tolerancing
• Significant experience of cascading vehicle level attribute targets to component specifications
• Knowledge of the associated CAE tools and test methods for suspension systems
• Working knowledge of D-FMEA, P-FMEA, DVP's & APQP
