Job summary

Racecar Engineering & Build is seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer to develop a new line of high performance dampers for aftermarket and motorsport applications. You will translate customer and track data into robust product concepts and targets.

Collaborating with suppliers, you will optimise designs with CAD tools, create costings from concept through to production, and oversee test plans and validation activities across the development lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Minimum of an HNC/HND in mechanical or automotive engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years design experience of vehicle dampers.
• CAD experience using Catia, NX, Creo, Solidworks or similar.
• Knowledge of DFM, DFA, tolerancing.
• Experience of cascading vehicle level attribute targets to component specifications.
• Knowledge of the associated CAE tools and test methods for suspension systems.
• Working knowledge of D-FMEA, P-FMEA, DVP's & APQP.

Experience & qualifications:

• Minimum of an HNC/HND in mechanical or automotive engineering
• Minimum of 5 years design experience of vehicle dampers
• Eloquent and outgoing, able to build strong relationships with suppliers and customers and liaise on technical matters with other departments and customers
• CAD experience using Catia, NX, Creo, Solidworks or similar
• Experience of DFM, DFA, tolerancing
• Significant experience of cascading vehicle level attribute targets to component specifications
• Knowledge of the associated CAE tools and test methods for suspension systems
• Working knowledge of D-FMEA, P-FMEA, DVP's & APQP
