Job summary

G&P Group is seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer focused on body panels, composites, carbon fibre and exterior systems for a contract-based role in Surrey. The role emphasizes containment, recovery actions and driving supplier performance improvements across exterior commodities.

You'll work with suppliers, engineering and manufacturing teams to own supplier quality concerns, implement containment, and ensure corrective actions are sustainable and effective in protecting vehicle

Qualifications

• Proven supplier quality engineering experience in automotive manufacturing.
• Experience with body panels, composites, exterior systems and related commodities.
• Strong understanding of containment, recovery and production protection processes.
• Familiarity with APQP/PPAP, PFMEA, control plans and 8D/problem-solving methods.

Responsibilities

• Manage supplier quality concerns across body panels, composites and exterior systems.
• Lead containment activities to protect production and vehicle build.
• Coordinate CSL1/CSL2 activities through containment exit.

Body Panels / Composites Supplier Quality Engineer

Are you an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer with a strong background in Body Panels, Composites, or Exterior Systems within automotive manufacturing?

We are supporting a high-performance automotive manufacturer in their search for a Supplier Quality Engineer - Body Panels & Composites to join their Surrey-based team on a contract basis.

This is a hands-on role focused on supplier quality, containment and recovery activities across a range of body panel, composite, carbon fibre, painted surface and exterior system commodities. You'll play a key role in protecting vehicle build, supporting production and driving supplier performance improvements across appearance-critical and structurally significant components.

Role Overview

Working closely with Suppliers, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Engineering and Programme teams, you'll take ownership of supplier quality concerns, ensuring effective containment actions are implemented while driving robust corrective actions and sustainable supplier recovery plans.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage supplier quality concerns across body panels, composite assemblies and exterior vehicle systems
• Lead supplier containment activities to protect production and vehicle build
• Manage Controlled Shipping (CSL1 & CSL2) activities through to containment exit
• Drive supplier root cause analysis and corrective actions using 8D, 5 Why and other structured problem-solving techniques
• Coordinate sorting, inspection, rework and third-party containment activities where required
• Monitor supplier performance through PPM, defect trends, quality escapes and recovery metrics
• Act as the key interface between suppliers and internal cross-functional teams
• Escalate supplier risks and provide clear updates on containment status, recovery plans and quality concerns#

Experience Required:

• Proven Supplier Quality Engineering experience supporting body panels, composites, carbon fibre, exterior trim, closures, painted parts or related commodities within automotive manufacturing
• Experience working with composite materials, carbon fibre structures, Class-A surfaces, painted components, body assemblies, bumpers, doors, closures or exterior systems
• Previous experience managing supplier containment, supplier recovery and production protection activities
• Strong understanding of Controlled Shipping (CSL1 & CSL2) and supplier escalation processes
• Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, 8D and Root Cause Analysis methodologies
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and prioritisation skills
• Experience within OEM, Tier 1, motorsport or high-performance automotive manufacturing environments is advantageous
• Must have the independent right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
