Job summary

Stanborough Secondary School is seeking a Head of Boarding on a part‑time basis to lead and grow our residential provision in Watford. The role involves shaping a nurturing, inclusive boarding community with strong safeguarding, welfare and personal development focus for all boarders.

The successful candidate will manage boarding staff, ensure high standards of care, and collaborate with families, leaders and external partners to deliver outstanding outcomes within statutory guidance.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in boarding environments.
• Exceptional safeguarding knowledge and practice.
• Proven leadership and team management experience.
• Ability to create an inclusive, supportive boarding culture.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Commitment to student wellbeing and achievement.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for boarding.
• Ensure safeguarding and welfare standards are met.
• Lead day-to-day boarding operations and staffing.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with parents and guardians.
• Ensure compliance with National Minimum Standards for Boarding Schools.
• Lead inspections preparation and continuous improvement.
• Oversee health and safety and risk assessments.
• Promote positive behaviour and inclusion.
