Job summary

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to support Biomedical Scientists in the blood science service. You will handle specimen reception, data entry, and routine lab tasks in a busy hospital lab.

The role involves working closely with a team, maintaining patient data accuracy, and adhering to SOPs and safety guidelines. Training will be provided for preanalytical systems and sample processing.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 2 or equivalent is required.
• Experience working in a team is essential.
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.
• Basic computer skills and data entry experience.
• Experience handling telephone calls is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Receive and sort specimens according to laboratory protocols.
• Enter patient data into the laboratory computer system.
• Repackaging and sending samples for referral analysis.
• Maintain accuracy of data on request forms and host systems.
• General office duties including sorting, photocopying and filing.
• Adhere to SOPs and Health & Safety regulations.
