Job summary

Lucid is seeking a Bizerba Test Engineer to support testing of self-service checkout weighing scales at our Derby site. The role covers testing 10–14 units daily, diagnosing faults, and ensuring equipment meets standards. Prior Bizerba training and hands-on engineering experience are essential.

Initially a 3-month contract, with roughly two days per week in Derby. The role demands precise testing procedures and safe, efficient work practices in a high-volume environment.

Qualifications

• Specific Bizerba training and/or hands-on engineering experience - essential.
• Experience testing, servicing, repairing or commissioning weighing scales.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience with self-service checkout or retail weighing equipment desirable.
• Ability to document test results clearly and accurately.
• Comfortable in a high-volume, repetitive testing environment.

Job description

Bizerba Test Engineer - Derby - 2 days a week (3 months initially)

We are looking for an experienced Bizerba Engineer to support the testing and assessment of self-service checkout weighing scales at our customers Derby site. The engineer will be responsible for testing weighing-scale units brought into the site from various supermarkets, ensuring that equipment is functioning correctly and meets the required technical and operational standards.

The role will involve testing approximately 10-14 units per day.

Previous Bizerba training and hands-on engineering experience is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Test and assess self-service checkout weighing scales received from supermarket sites.


• Diagnose faults and identify issues with weighing equipment.


• Carry out functional and operational testing to confirm equipment is working correctly.


• Investigate and troubleshoot technical issues where required.


• Record test results, faults and any remedial work undertaken.


• Ensure equipment is tested consistently against defined procedures and standards.


• Handle a high volume of equipment, with an expected throughput of approximately 10-14 units per day.


• Escalate complex or recurring technical issues where appropriate.


• Maintain a safe, organised and efficient working environment.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Experience working with self-service checkout or retail weighing equipment is highly desirable.


• Ability to follow technical procedures and accurately document test results.

• Able to work independently and manage daily testing targets.
