Job summary

BSI is seeking a Site Maintenance Engineer in Hemel Hempstead to maintain bespoke electrical and mechanical test equipment used across diverse tests. You will fault-find and improve equipment while supporting unique capital projects in a challenging engineering environment.

Ideal candidates hold a formal mechanical or electrical qualification and have strong RCA fault-finding and routine maintenance experience, with good communication and admin skills to document work comprehensively.

Qualifications

  • Formal mechanical or electrical engineering qualification.
  • Able to demonstrate fault finding using RCA.
  • Experience in routine maintenance and breakdown repair of industrial equipment.
  • Good communication and teamwork.
  • Strong admin skills to keep records.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in delivery of preventive maintenance across the site.
  • Support reactive maintenance for plant equipment as reported by staff.
  • Audit and inspect critical assets per Maintenance and Development Manager.
  • Assist design/projects team on larger capital expenditure works.
  • Host contractors for both preventive and reactive works.
  • Consult on software and hardware improvements.

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent, 36hrs p/w

Job Overview

Join one of the UK's most technically diverse product testing laboratories, where you'll maintain bespoke electrical and mechanical test equipment used to evaluate everything from fire safety systems, construction products to PPE and life protection equipment. Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the delivery of preventive maintenance tasks throughout the site
  • Support the reactive maintenance activities reported by members of staff specifically in regard to the plant
  • Carry out audit and inspection of critical assets identified by the Maintenance and Development Manager
  • Assist the design and projects team when required on larger capital expenditure works
  • Hosting contractors that assist in both preventative and reactive works
  • Consulting on software and hardware improvements
Required Skills & Experience
  • Formal mechanical or electrical engineering qualification
  • Able to demonstrate fault finding skills utilising techniques such as RCA
  • Previous experience in routine maintenance and breakdown repair of industrial equipment/machinery
  • Good communication skills, willingness to participate in team discussions and activities
  • Ability to create ideas, understand the need for change and embrace it
  • You’ll be solution focused, with a “here to help” attitude. You’ll need to have good people skills to enable you to identify root cause issues, and work with other to resolve them
  • We need to keep records of all work carried out, so you need good admin skills
