Premea is seeking a skilled BIW Maintenance Engineer in Solihull to join a dynamic automotive manufacturing team. You will maintain production equipment, perform fault-finding across electrical, mechanical, and robotic systems, and drive continuous improvements to reduce downtime.

The role requires NVQ Level 3 or an engineering apprenticeship, strong SAP usage, and a proactive safety-first approach, including LOTO and risk assessments.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in an engineering discipline or completion of an engineering apprenticeship.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
  • Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment, robotics, welding systems, conveyors, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Thorough understanding of health and safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and risk assessments.
  • Proficiency in using maintenance management systems such as SAP.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, fault logs, shift handovers, and asset histories using maintenance management systems such as SAP.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, reduce downtime, and increase production efficiency.

BIW Maintenance Engineer - £34/hr (Inside IR35) - Solihull - 6 Months (potential to extend)

Overview


We are seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a dynamic team within the automotive manufacturing sector. This role is critical to ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production equipment to support vehicle manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical and mechanical fault-finding, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards.
