Job summary

TipTopJob is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to keep vehicle manufacturing lines running safely and efficiently at the Solihull site. You will perform planned maintenance, diagnose faults, and implement robust fixes across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and robotic systems.

You'll read engineering drawings and control system information, support TPM and Lean/OEE initiatives, and maintain detailed asset histories while working to high safety standards on site near Lode Lane,

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in an Engineering discipline or equivalent
  • Engineering apprenticeship pathway or similar training
  • Experience fault-finding on electrical & mechanical systems

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned maintenance and inspections to prevent downtime and keep production equipment running smoothly.
  • Diagnose breakdowns by identifying mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and robotic faults.
  • Interpret drawings and control system information to implement permanent fixes.
  • Support continuous improvement by reducing downtime and improving asset reliability.
  • Follow lockout/tagout procedures and safe working practices.
  • Keep accurate fault logs and update maintenance systems such as SAP.

What You Will Do
  • : Carry out planned maintenance and inspections to prevent downtime and keep production equipment running at its best.
  • : Respond to equipment breakdowns by diagnosing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and robotic faults.
  • : Use technical drawings, diagnostic tools, and control system information to identify root causes and implement permanent fixes.
  • : Support continuous improvement by reducing downtime and improving reliability across manufacturing assets.
  • : Work safely by following lockout/tagout procedures, risk assessments, and safe systems of work at all times.
  • : Keep accurate records by updating fault logs, completing shift handovers, and maintaining asset histories in maintenance systems such as SAP.
What You Will Bring
  • : Strong electrical and mechanical fault:finding experience, including PLC:controlled equipment exposure.
  • : Familiarity with robotics, welding systems, conveyors, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • : The ability to interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and technical manuals to drive effective repairs.
  • : Thorough understanding of health and safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), risk assessments and safe working practices.
  • : Excellent communication skills to work effectively with production teams, engineers and contractors.
  • : Continuous improvement mindset, supporting operational excellence initiatives such as TPM, Lean Manufacturing and OEE improvement programs.
  • : NVQ Level 3 in an Engineering discipline, or an Engineering Apprenticesion pathway.

This Maintenance Technician position sits within the manufacturing and engineering sector, supporting the delivery of high:quality output for a major automotive organisation.
