Job summary

TipTopJob is seeking a skilled BIW Maintenance Engineer to join our automotive manufacturing team in Solihull. The role focuses on electrical and mechanical fault finding, safety compliance, and proactive problem solving to ensure production equipment reliability and efficiency.

Responsibilities include planned maintenance, fault diagnosis across mechanical/electrical/robotic systems, and collaboration with production teams. Experience with SAP and LOTO practices is valued.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in engineering or completion of an engineering apprenticeship.
• Strong electrical and mechanical faultfinding skills.
• Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment, robotics, welding systems, conveyors, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
• Thorough understanding of health and safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and risk assessments.
• Proficiency in using maintenance management systems such as SAP.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
• Diagnose and repair faults in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and robotic systems.
• Conduct faultfinding and root cause analysis to implement permanent corrective actions.
• Collaborate with production teams, engineers, and contractors to support continuous improvement initiatives and new equipment installations.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures, including lockout/tagout processes, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
• Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, fault logs, shift handovers, and asset histories using maintenance management systems such as SAP.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, reduce downtime, and increase production efficiency.

• Participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance equipment reliability and production efficiency.
• Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety standards.
