Whickham School is seeking a confident BIS Support Officer to join our Behaviour and Inclusion Support (BIS) team. This hands-on pastoral role works directly with pupils facing barriers to learning, delivering mentoring and targeted interventions to support progress.
You will manage an identified caseload, build positive relationships with pupils and families, and work with the Senior Pastoral Leader and wider team to identify concerns and ensure they are followed up and acted upon.

You will manage an identifiedcaseload of pupils, provide regular mentoring and targeted interventions, and build positiverelationships with pupils and their families to help them make positive and sustained progress.
Working closely with our Senior Pastoral Leader, Pastoral Leaders and wider school team, you willsupport pupils within Behaviour and Inclusion Support and help ensure concerns are identified,followed up and acted upon.
We are looking for someone who is confident working with young people, able to build strongrelationships while maintaining clear boundaries, and comfortable dealing with challengingsituations calmly and consistently. You will need to be proactive, use your initiative and takeownership of your caseload rather than waiting to be directed.
Previous experience of pastoral, behaviour, youth work or similar support with young people wouldbe particularly valuable. Experience within a secondary school is desirable, but we are equallyinterested in candidates with relevant experience from other settings who have the skills andconfidence to make a real difference to our pupils.
