Job summary

Hawk Hiring is recruiting a Vehicle Technician for a leading Birmingham dealership. The role covers heavy mechanical work, diagnostics, servicing, and warranty repair to brand standards in a state-of-the-art workshop.

Ideal candidates hold NVQ Level 3 / IMI Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, with a valid UK driving licence. MOT tester status is advantageous but not essential; a pension scheme and staff perks are included.

Responsibilities

• Execute heavy mechanical work including engine rebuilds, gearbox swaps, clutch replacements, and timing belt/chain renewals.
• Utilise diagnostic equipment to trace electrical, mechanical, and software faults.
• Carry out servicing, preventative maintenance, and warranty repairs to brand standards.
• Perform vehicle health checks and document findings on digital job cards.
• Collaborate with parts and service advisors to ensure smooth repairs.

What's Included in the Package?

• Salary Range: £35,000 – £45,000 basic per annum (DOE) + strong bonus structure. (Note: Holding a valid MOT Tester licence is highly advantageous and will attract a higher starting salary!)
• Working Schedule: Monday to Friday hours (with Saturdays on a rolling rota)

Core Duties

• Execute heavy mechanical work including engine rebuilds, gearbox swaps, clutch replacements, and timing belt/chain renewals
• Utilize advanced manufacturer diagnostic equipment to trace complex electrical, mechanical, and software faults
• Carry out routine servicing, preventative maintenance, and warranty repairs to strict brand standards
• Perform thorough multi-point vehicle health checks (VHC) and document findings accurately on digital job cards
• Collaborate with the parts department and service advisors to ensure a seamless repair process for the customer

Candidate Profile

• Technical Ability: Strong capability in in-depth mechanical repairs and confident diagnostic problem-solving
• Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 / IMI Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or solid time-served dealership/garage experience)
• MOT Status: An active MOT Tester licence is a great bonus (and increases your salary potential), but is not essential to apply
• Mindset: An organized, quality-driven professional who takes pride in maintaining a clean and safe working bay
• Requirements: Full UK Driving Licence
