Job summary

Hawk Hiring is seeking a Vehicle Technician for a leading franchised dealership in Wolverhampton. You will work in a state-of-the-art workshop, carrying out maintenance and complex powertrain repairs with access to official manufacturer training and a clear development path.

The role offers a salary of £35,000–£45,000 per year (DOE) plus an uncapped monthly efficiency bonus, a Monday–Friday schedule, 20 days holiday plus bank holidays, a pension, vehicle purchase schemes and trade parts

Qualifications

• Technical mastery with heavy repair work (engines, gearboxes, drivetrains) and fault isolation.
• Level 3 NVQ or IMI equivalent in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Main-dealer experience is a plus; independent technicians are welcome.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed mechanical teardowns and rebuilds including engine and transmission work.
• Run advanced diagnostics using dealer software to locate faults.
• Carry out servicing, warranty repairs and health checks to brand standards.
• Work with service advisors to update customers on progress and write-ups.
• Maintain bay cleanliness, tool care and workshop efficiency.

Core Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed mechanical teardowns and rebuilds, including engine component replacement, gearbox jobs, timing belts/chains, and clutch assemblies
• Run advanced diagnostic routines using official dealer software to pinpoint tricky electrical, mechanical, and network faults
• Complete scheduled servicing, warranty repairs, and rigorous vehicle health checks (VHC) to strict brand benchmarks
• Work alongside service advisors to keep customers informed on repair progress and electronic job write-ups
• Maintain high standards of bay cleanliness, tool care, and overall workshop efficiency

Candidate Profile

• Technical Mastery: Confident executing heavy repair work (engines, gearboxes, drivetrains) alongside complex fault isolation
• Qualifications: Level 3 NVQ / IMI in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent time-served background)
• Background: Main-dealer experience is a plus, but skilled independent technicians ready to move into a franchise environment are welcomed
• Mindset: Quality-focused problem solver with strong attention to detail and clean working habits
• Requirements: Full UK Driving Licence
