Job summary

HID is seeking a Senior DevTest Engineer Biometrics in Cardiff to drive automated testing across firmware and software in a CI/CD pipeline. You will lead the testing strategy, from test plan to execution, bridging DevOps and QA Validation to improve release quality and defect detection.

Role emphasizes automation, testing in biometric devices, and collaboration with cross‑functional teams. A degree in engineering and 4+ years in testing are expected, with on‑site work in Cardiff.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent or suitable experience.
• Minimum of +4 years of related industry experience.
• Prior experience of device testing, embedded firmware, software testing, or other related testing experience
• Cloud & IAC: AWS and/or Azure; Terraform; Docker; version‑controlled, repeatable environments and CI/CD integration.
• Test‑as‑code: Test cases and automation authored as code; pipeline execution, reporting, and release gating;
• NUnit test framework.
• Specific experience with Biometric devices.
• Test orchestration tools such as AWS CodePipeline, Codeship, Travis CI, CircleCI, GitHub Actions, etc.
• Scripting languages e.g. Python, Bash, Groovy, etc.
• API integrations: REST and NATs.
• Mercurial and/or Bitbucket/Git version control.
• Bluetooth Low Energy Protocol.
• I2C and SPI protocols.
• Windows/Mobile GUI/Application development.
• Demonstrable knowledge of API structures XML, JSON, or similar.
• Experience with Secure Elements, RFID, NFC, HCE or Bluetooth technologies is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain automated test strategies within CI/CD for HID PACS.
• Lead the implementation of scalable test environments with minimal supervision.
• Develop and execute test plans and test cases from product specs.
• Design non‑functional test cases and document progress for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with DevOps and QA Validation to improve release quality.
• Mentor interns and junior engineers in testing approaches and tools.
• Monitor, triage and resolve CI/CD test failures and update infrastructure.
• Present test reports and ensure test coverage aligns with system integration.
