Job summary

NHS Blood and Transplant is looking for a Biomedical Scientist to join the Red Cell Immunohaematology laboratories. You will contribute to patient care by performing and interpreting a range of tests, mentoring junior staff, and providing specialist advice within a dynamic NHS lab team.

The role includes training pathways, shift work, and opportunities to specialise in QC, education, or R&D, with support to develop your qualifications and career within NHSBT.

Qualifications

• CPA, GMP, UKBTS and BCSH guidelines knowledge.
• HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist (maintained).
• Structured training in Transfusion and Transplantation Science completed.
• Commitment to ongoing CPD.

Responsibilities

• Perform, analyse, record and report a wide range of investigations and procedures.
• Monitor workflow, equipment and storage, resolving issues within timescales.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff and provide specialist advice.
• Handle blood samples and operate analysers and equipment.
