Job summary

York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled Biomedical Scientist with HCPC registration to join the Microbiology team on our Hull site. The role involves performing a range of microbiology investigations, result interpretation, and contributing to patient care with flexible rotation across the laboratory.

Applicants should be prepared for extended hours, weekend and on-call rotas.

Qualifications

• HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist.
• Experience with microbiology workflows is desirable.
• Ability to adapt to a rotating shift pattern and weekend/on-call rotas.

Responsibilities

• Perform molecular and culture-based laboratory investigations.
• Interpret results and communicate clinically relevant findings.
• Supervise Medical Laboratory Assistants and trainees where required.
• Maintain quality systems and comply with SOPs and UKAS standards.
