Job summary

York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled Biomedical Scientist with HCPC registration to join the Microbiology team at the Hull site. The role covers a fast-paced laboratory environment with rotation and extended hours, including weekends and on-call shifts.

Applicants with a specialist portfolio and Band 6 eligibility will be considered for that level. Training and development opportunities are available as part of a supportive workplace culture within the NHS.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration is required.
• Experience in specialist portfolio preferred for Band 6 eligibility.
• Experience in a fast-paced microbiology laboratory is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform scientific procedures and report results for microbiology samples.
• Interpret molecular diagnostic tests and correlate with clinical context.
• Supervise Biomedical Scientists and trainees when required.
• Ensure adherence to SOPs and quality systems.
