Job summary

York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a suitably qualified Biomedical Scientist to join the Senior Biomedical Scientist team within York Microbiology. The post holder must demonstrate leadership and management capabilities, while working collaboratively to achieve shared goals.

The role includes full-time hours with on-call, early/late shifts, weekends and bank holidays; face-to-face interviews; no remote option.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with microbiology technologies and methods.
• Strong leadership and line management experience in a laboratory.
• Ability to work flexible rostering including on-call, early/late shifts, weekends and bank holidays.
• Demonstrated collaboration with multiple work areas and labs.

Responsibilities

• Lead microbiology bench sections and teams within the department.
• Provide operational support and deputise for Chief BMS and Head BMS.
• Oversee HR processes to support the department.
• Ensure compliance with the QMS and organize daily laboratory tasks.
• Participate in out-of-hours services and on-call rosters.
