Job summary

Voy Labs seeks a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to lead verification, validation, and interpretation of complex clinical specimens in haematology and biochemistry. You will apply rigorous quality standards, oversee testing workflows, and support continuous improvement of the diagnostic pipeline.

You will collaborate with clinicians and technical teams, mentoring junior staff while maintaining audit-ready records within the LIMS and contributing to a fast-paced digital health environment.

Qualifications

• HCPC registered with post-registration experience in haematology or biochemistry.
• Experience in assay verification, test validation, and troubleshooting in automated labs.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail and data review skills.
• Solid knowledge of UKAS/ISO 15189, internal QC, and EQA schemes.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities with mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up, verify and validate new lab tests in haematology and biochemistry.
• Process and analyse patient samples per SOPs, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Interpret and validate results and resolve analytical anomalies.
• Operate and maintain analysers; perform daily QC and escalate issues.
• Participate in EQA schemes to maintain high analytical standards.
• Contribute to the lab QMS, audits, incident reporting, and process improvements.
• Keep audit-ready records in the LIMS.
• Communicate technical insights to clinicians and stakeholders.
• Mentor and supervise junior staff to raise operational standards.
